The Relief Society here had a Hold to the Rod session tonight. Basically where we get together and discuss a conference talk. My Ensign came yesterday (just in time)! We read "Come What May, and Love It" by Elder Joseph B. Worthlin.
He has some very powerful things to say about overcoming adversity.
Learn to Laugh- They always say laughter is the best medicine. What a great way to cope with trials!
"The next time your tempted to groan, you might try to laugh instead. It will extend your life and make the lives of all those around you more enjoyable."
Seek for the Eternal- Where does this problem stand in the grand scheme of things?
"Learning to endure times of disappointment, suffering, and sorrow is part of our OJT."
Understand the Principle of Compensation- You have to take the bad with the good.
"The Lord compensates to faithful for every loss. While it may not come at the time we desire, the faithful will know that every tear today will eventually be returned with tears of rejoicing and gratitude."
Trust in the Father and the Son- The Plan of Salvation is centered on Faith.
"The simple secret is this: put your trust in the Lord, do your best, then leave the rest to him."-Elder Worthlin's daughter
I love this talk. I want to bear my testimony for those that hear it. I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the truest church on this earth. I know that Joseph Smith, Jr. was and is a prophet of God. I am grateful that Christ bled and died for my sins. I know he is the son of God and the only way back to Him. President Thomas S. Monson is a true and living prophet. He leads God's Church on the earth today. Thank You Lord for giving us these great gifts. Amen.

I loved your post. I agree with everything you said (obviously!). Laughter and the grand eternal view on our existence is something that really helps a lot, as well as trusting the Lord and the principle of compensation (which that one I hadn't thought a whole lot about like that before - cool!).
Thank you for sharing your testimony. It was great to read and feel the spirit.
Love you;-)
your favorite cousin named Terri (you better not have any other cousins named terri that you like better)
I came across your blog threw the adoption/okinawa group. My husband and I are stationed in Okinawa and are going to adopt. We haven't found an adoption agency yet since we are still trying to figure out what country we want to adopt from. I love you blog very much and I totally agree with everthing you say. I was saying even sad things in our lives seem to turn good in the end. Thanks for you blog and hope all goes well.
